A Quick Update

Hey guys,

sorry for the whole not being around lately thing.

First off, I wanna say a huge thank you to everyone that took part in Diabolical Deeds, all the entries were fantastic. I will do a post when I have time with a little word about everyone :)

Secondly: reasons I have been busy – university, AIESEC stuff, actually having a ‘real’ life… yeah, basically I’m probably not going to be around very much.

And last, but not least, do you guys want a Christmas challenge? I’m thinking a one day thing – and I will make sure I don’t fall off the wagon! Let me know in the comments.

Hope everyone is doing well, and those of you who are doing NaNoWriMo – I hope you’re all getting on excellently with your novels! Please do let me know about those as well!

Much loves,
‘Timony xoxox

‘Timony’s Back!

Sorry I’ve been away for so long, did you miss me? I missed you!

It’s October, you know what that means, right? NaNoWriMo is less than a month away! I have an idea… but no plan. I’ll fix that soon enough.  In the meantime, I am planning another #TimonyChallenge – it should be up by the end of this week. I’m expecting all the usual suspects, but I do hope that my new followers will hop on board too. Also, hi new followers! Come talk to me.

In other news, I published a poetry chapbook - you can buy it here! I’m also a part of Inkslinger Books – a new project set up by a few Indie writers to help promote and create a community of sorts. I do hope you’ll check out the anthologies they’ve already published!

I am making a concentrated effort to organise myself now – I’m currently at University, and part of AIESEC, and trying to make time for blogging/writing/working on the new book (which I will tell you about in a couple of days)!

And if you’ve missed my writing, which I’m sure you all have, go and check out the archives on my Tumblr!

Tell me what’s going on with you guys? Are you excited about NaNoWriMo? How are your writing projects going?

‘Timony Needs a Break

Hallo my lovelies,

if you follow me on Twitter or Tumblr you will have no doubt read my most recent post entitled ‘Questioning…’ – after writing that post I had a pretty long think.

Truth is, I’m not having fun any more. I’m really not. I’m tired of feeling so pressured about my writing – and I’m piling that pressure on myself. My work is deteriorating due to the stress I’m causing myself.

So, after realising that I’m pretty much failing and falling apart all at the same time, I have decided to take a step back from all of it. The blogging, Tumblr and publishing any of my work online. I won’t be updating my 750words, or my #WIP500 count either. Basically, I’m taking a well earned holiday from it all. I want to write for myself, when I have the desire to do so. I know I should have a work ethic and blah blah blah – but I feel like shit, and I really don’t want to subject you to that. My writing is awful right now, I’m just not feeling it.

I’ll still be lurking in the background. I’ll still set up challenges for you guys if you want – and I will take part in the #MarchMadness challenge too. But apart from that, I don’t think I’ll be partaking in much.

I’m just really tired right now. And I feel like giving up entirely. I have no idea how long I’ll be gone from this world – but I’ll be back as soon as I feel up to it. In the mean time, keep writing and drinking mug loads of tea!

Love & hugs & other snazzy things,

‘Timony

WTBH Wednesday: The Slightly Late Edition

Hallo and welcome to yet another edition of WTBH Wednesday!

I don’t have anything particularly interesting for you today, apart from the challenge that I have set for March. We’ll get to that in a minute, first I have a few links for you!

First up, I’ve mentioned the Post Punk Book Club before – check it out on Tumblr! And we also have a Twitter account now – find us under @PostPunkBC

Secondly, the second edition of Rebecca Clare Smith’s #SatSunTails will be up on Saturday! Make sure to take part in it – it’s going to be great fun!

And last, but by no means least, check out my personal Tumblr ‘Toxic Musings’ for more of my writings, musings and the like!

Now – onto the bit you’re all eagerly awaiting!

Edit: I had a bit of a think (and some helpful feedback) on the prompts for this challenge, and I’ve decided to change them! Hope you like the new ones :)

The challenge day will be Tuesday – because Rebecca has hijacked Saturday. But it’s her birthday, and I bought her chocolate, and I love her – so it’s all good. Sorry, a little off track there… back to the challenge!

March Madness!

(I say madness because… well, it is.)

You know the rules as well as I do – only this time you only get 200 words!

    • Belial: vessels of iniquity and inventors of evil things
    • Asmodeus: vile revenges
    • Astaroth: inquisitors and accusers
    • Mammon: tempters and ensnarer
These are four of the seven ‘Princes of Hell’ – click on the links for more information. Use the demons, or use their ‘actions’ as you will. Enjoy!

So sign up, and get to writing something good with my rather vague prompts!

Taking Huge Leaps!

Yes, yes I am. Into what? I hear you cry! Into the world of submissions, is where! This post is late because I have spent most of Monday trawling through the world of the interwebs (and maybe playing Monopoloy Streets) to find sites where I could possibly submit my work – I found quite a few! I’ve written a couple of pieces of ‘creative nonfiction’ and some poetry, which I hope to be submitting over the next few days! I’m absolutely terrified, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that all will go well and I’ll have a few links for you guys!

Moving on, writing is going relatively well despite a few distractions – the biggest one being reuniting with my mother after almost seven years, that was something! My WIP500 count is steadily rising, and I am slowly gaining a little more confidence in my writing.

Now onto more pressing matters!

The #DearValentine challenge is almost over, but fear not! I shall have something for you for March – I promise. In the meantime though, I suggest you scoot on over the amazing Rebecca Clare Smith’s blog and read about her new weekly drabble contest! If you’ve taken part in #TuesdayTales or #MenageMonday, you’ll love #SatSunTails – it’s a fantastic thing to take part in, I promise!

Well, that’s all from me folks – I hope that your writing is going well! Tell me how you’re getting on?

‘Oh God… Another One?’

…is what the Mancreature exclaimed when I told him that I had started another novel.

You can’t blame the poor man for being so worried – he recalls November, and the madness it brought with it. He was ignored for almost an entire month. I fed him, and occasionally grunted a response – but he didn’t get much more than that. So, when I told him last week that I had a new novel in the works his groans were understandable. Of course, I soon alleviated his fears by explaining that there would be no ‘I’ve still got 35,000 words to write!’ every time he asks me for something.

Clearly, you’ve guessed that I have a new novel in the works, right? It’s got a working title of ‘An Unholy Betrayal’ (Thanks to Rebecca Clare Smith) and it’s High Fantasy – because, really, is there any other kind of book? (Of course there is, I just can’t write any other kind. ) This is it in one sentence:

The Guild Master has found the weapon he needs to destroy the world, only the ancient order of Holy Assassins can stop him, but can Shadow’s Mistress and her new companion resurrect the Holy Assassins in time to save the love of her life?

It totally sounds amazing, right? Right.

So far I’ve got most of it all planned out, and the characters have some depth to them, and I have a map. Oh, and about 8,000 words down. It’s been a good week. My #WIP500 count has steadily risen in the last five days or so, and I’ve started writing my 750 Words again, which is brilliant for mind dumps.

The Creative Writing thing I’m doing with The Art Stop is also going really well, we’re going to make a recording of monologues which we shall write in the next few weeks. It’s going to be made all fancy with music and what nots, and played at the International Womens Day conference in March – Exciting stuff!

That’s what’s going on with me – now tell me about you!

WTBH Wednesday: Edition 2

Hallo again my lovelies. It’s that time of the week again! I have a couple of things I want to discuss with you.

First up is an article my (ridiculously awesome) lady friend @LinkyGray showed me yesterday.

“Is it acceptable to call someone ‘babe’?”

I found this article a little bit hilarious – but then I’m Scottish, and everyone is ‘my lovely’ or ‘hen’ or ‘pet’. It’s just the way it is. I don’t mind these terms, they’re affectionate not insulting. Unless I feel it’s being used in a derogatory fashion (which it rarely is) I have no reason to complain.

So tell me, how do you feel about it?

Second up is a little thing I posted on my Tumblr today. (Let’s use a little copy & paste magic here).

It’s time to come clean.
I swear I’ll tell the truth this time.
I mean it.
I will.

No, I’m serious – there’s something I need to get off my chest. It’s about me, and what I do and what I think I can do.

I write. A lot. I like to experiment, I like to try new things – but there’s things I’m not very good at writing. There are some things that I really shouldn’t have written.

(But that’s not the truth part.)

I adore when someone comes along and says to me ‘Hey, this is all right – but you could make it better. Mind if I show you how?’

That, right there makes me immensely happy. It does.

Point of post:

If I’ve written something, and you think that it’s not good enough or there’s something ridiculous about it. Send me an ask! Tell me what you think I could do to make it better. I’m not going to get all offended and miserable, and start mouthing off about you/at you. I’m going to say thank you, and mean it. So go ahead, critique that shit.

So, yeah, that. If there’s something you think I should know – drop me a line:

timonysouler@gmail.com

And that’s it for WBTH Wednesday!

Writing, writing, and a little more…

Hallo my lovelies!

How are we all? Good, I hope! I’m doing rather well.

Would you like an update? Of course you would! (And you’re getting it, even if you don’t!)

If you’re on Twitter, and following me, you’ve probably seen the #WIP500 tag floating around in a lot of my tweets. It’s going good! I haven’t written as much on the WIP as I would like, but honestly I haven’t been in the right frame of mind for it. I have however been writing lots of poetry and mini fiction (which I owe you one, I will do a double post on Friday!) over on my Tumblr. Feel free to go and check it out, and leave a comment using the Disqus form.

It was also the second day of the Creative Writing at The Art Stop, which was great fun. It’s always nice to get out of your own headspace for a while, and hear what others are up to. Wrote a couple of fun pieces there, which are now on my Tumblr!

And last, but by no means least, my February blog challenge – #DearValentine – starts on Saturday! You can sign up here, if you haven’t already.

So tell me about you, how are you getting on with your writing?

WTBH Wednesday: Edition No.1

As you may have gathered from the title there – this post is going to leave with a huge ‘What the bloody hell was that?’ type of expression on your face.

I’m not really sure where exactly this post is going… so, um, expect a lot of random thought processes and what not. Speaking of random, I decided to enjoy a spot of lunch (whilst dying in pain and waiting for my therapy appointment) in Subway this afternoon. For some reason everyone, and this includes the ‘couples’, were all sat facing the counter. I have no idea why, looking over them (I like to sit on the high chairs, you see) they were all facing that way. It felt like being in a classroom. It was almost as if the lovely lady who made* my sandwich was about to give a sermon or some such. That didn’t happen, obviously, so I continued staring out of the window…

Anyway, apart from that amazingly interesting tidbit from my day, I haven’t much else to recount. I have been rewriting the epicness that is my NaNo Novel, and writing stories based on prompts from the ah-may-zing @Writing4Rent on Twitter. (That’ll be up on Friday by the way, you know if you want to, like, read it or something)

Gorsh, did you actually ever find anything about my ‘actual’ life interesting at any point at all? Because it appears I lead a rather dull existence. Really, I do.

So, tell me about you guys- what’s going on in the non-writerly portion of your lives?

Writerly Ramblings

Hello my lovelies!

It seems that I have well and truly settled into WordPress. I thought to myself “I need to write a blog post.” and instead of clicking the Blogger button as I have been accustomed to do, I clicked the WP button instead! I don’t understand this newfound admiration any more than you do.

Anyway, onto the important stuff!

I began my 7-week (7 day really) creative writing course today, it’s not so much a course as it is a ‘group’. But it is good fun none the less. I thoroughly enjoyed writing at someone else’s behest, and letting go of my usual stresses about writing. It was fun! I wrote around 200 words there today – the story of my name (that was interesting), a game of ‘Consequences’ and a little inanimate object view point.

Since coming home I have drank lots of tea, pigged out on cake and added 455 words to my editing/rewriting of The Bronze Feather. It’s not a lot, but it’s writing and I’m happy with that. Who knows, I may feel the urge to write more later tonight and go crazy!

That’s pretty much it for today, hopefully I’ll have something a little more exciting for you next time, yes?

What about you? Are you writing/editing? How’s it going?
